We started off with a bang and didn’t let up. Our first game saw a fired up ‘Cuse squad level an overrated and poorly coached FSU team. Although starting qb Eric Dungey was hurt late in the second quarter and never returned, the Orange took a slim 6-0 lead into the half and backup qb Tommy DeVito, who took over the reins for Dungey, scored on a 3-yard run and threw for a 3-yard score in a span of just over 3 minutes in the third quarter, and Syracuse beat Florida State 30-7 in a very hot and humid Carrier Dome. FSU looked out of sorts and had no passing game. We have bucked this overrated team this year and will continue to do so as long as they keep getting too much respect.

Malik Rosier threw for two touchdowns and ran for three more, and the No. 21 Hurricanes outlasted upset-minded Toledo 49-24. Rosier threw for 205 yards and ran for 80. Toledo gave the Hurricanes a tough game last year but ultimately lost 52-30 at Miami. We took history into account and figured Miami would outclass the Rockets in the end. We were right getting the 25 point win and 11 point cover. Smooth sailing victory. ‘Canes looked bad against LSU but the Tigers are gonna make a lot of squads look bad this year.

You’re gonna give these Bayou Bengals 10 points? We’ll take that all day long against anyone. They jumped out to a 10 point lead before allowing a Jarret Stidham led Auburn squad to come roaring back and take the lead. After that point, it was a back and forth battle with LSU taking it with a field goal as time expired for the outright win as 10 point dogs. A lot more comfortable being tied or down 3-4 points when you are getting 10, right? These Tigers are for real this year (checkout their thorough shakedown of the ‘Canes in this year’s opener). If I ever see them getting double digit points again this year, believe me, you’re gonna know about it too!!!!
